Wedding Wednesday: the getaway

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

We rented our getaway car from Coats Classic Cars. The car's name is Betsy and is a 1934 Chevrolet Sedan.

Our guests waved the ribbon wands that I DIY'ed as we escaped into our car.

The car drove us to The Westin hotel, and 3 days later we left for our honeymoon in Italy and Greece.

Wedding Wednesday: the reception details part 2

Wednesday, June 17, 2015

Read part 1 of the reception here.

We got married at Limestone Bay Trading Co. in the quaint, historic town of Mooresville, AL. Limestone Bay used to be a restaurant, but now it's only used for events. The food was served inside the small restaurant space and the reception took place outside under a tent.

The lights in the tent were magical!

This vintage tablecloth was on our Mr and Mrs table, and is currently on the sideboard in our dining room.

My sister-in-law purchased from children's games to keep the kids entertained.

The tent and garden area were decorated with vintage signs.

I actually don't remember seeing the succulent garden at all. I have no idea where this was.

The garden area. To the left of the garden was the cake table and to the right was the drink shed.

These were decorations inside the restaurant building where the food was served.

More decorations in the garden.

Next week: the getaway!

House Update: May

Monday, June 15, 2015

The last time I posted updates about the house, we were moving in. A few weeks later we had done most of the unpacking downstairs and hung a lot on the walls.
The morning we were leaving to go on our road trip, I quickly snapped these photos. They aren't staged or styled in any way.

The biggest update since the April photos is the ancestry gallery wall. This wall is Sam's relatives and my ancestry wall is the one you can't see in this photo. We also put another leaf in the table. The dining room has come a long since the before:

Even though this photo was taken in June, I think we painted the door in May. The rest of the stairwell (going up the stairs) hasn't been painted yet. We hope to do that this month since we have several visitors coming this summer.

And here's the before with dirty tan trim and spindles and a boob light fixture:

Other than moving in our stuff, not much has happened in the kitchen. We're still trying to figure out the best layout for everything. Future plans include painting the cabinets and removing the railing on the upper cabinets.

The before, yellow walls, dirty tan trim, a ceiling fan, and almond appliances:

The library is coming along, and it feels much more like home with the gallery wall. I'm currently working on green velvet curtains for this room and I also want to get new chairs.

The before had disgusting carpet:

Here's the living room. We finally get to use the $50 sofa I got from Final Cut (anthropologie outlet), and I just bought a new rug from Rugs USA. I'm still trying to pick out curtain fabric. Future plans include painting the brick fireplace white, installing the light fixture, and (way down the road) getting a love seat.

We hung the gallery wall the night before we left on our vacation.

The before had popcorn ceiling, a brass ceiling fan, and everything was tan.

Wedding Wednesday: reception details part 1

Wednesday, June 10, 2015

I still haven't finished sharing all our wedding photos! My last wedding post was about the song we sung at the reception, and today I'm going to share more reception details.

I rented this sign from a Party Plus in Scottsboro, AL. I think it made a huge impact in the space!

This signage is from BHLDN and I used it at my sister's wedding.

The corn hole game was also rented from Party Plus, and was a waste of money because I don't think anyone played it.

I made all the paper flowers.

I made the green garland and the ribbon wands.

Instead of a guest book, we had our guests sign anniversary wine bottles.

I borrowed some children's games from friends, and Sam's younger cousins enjoyed playing them.

I had so many photos from the reception that I had to break it up into two posts. Next week is Part 2.

House Update: Moving Day

Tuesday, June 9, 2015

We have returned from our 3 week epic cross country road trip vacation! Now it's back to real life...ugh! This past weekend we revisited our summer project list and made a longer list and decided on a schedule. Sam dove right into his project this week, which is working on our gutted downstairs bathroom. I haven't shared any photos of that room because there really isn't anything to see! I spent my time editing photos (I'm supposed to be making curtains this week according to our schedule).

Now that I have newly edited photos, I wanted to show some progress going on in our house. The last time I posted about our house, we had tiled and wallpapered the laundry room, installed a dishwasher and fridge, and got all the wood floors installed.

We moved into the house in April and here are few photos from move in day.

My mom hung all the curtain rods.
