After we left the Grand Canyon, we drove to LA to pick up the VW camper van that we rented from Vintage Surfari Wagons. We spent one night in LA and then we headed toward Sequoia National Park for the first stop of our Leg 2 (California road trip).
We passed a lot of farmland along the way, including tons of orange groves. It was so pretty!
We camped at a campground inside Sequoia, and it was our first night camping in the van. We all (including Finn) slept well.
First views when we got into the park.
View from Moro Rock.
Unfortunately, Sequoia was one of the most dog UN-friendly park we went to. Other parks allowed dogs on paved trails, but dogs weren't allowed anywhere in Sequoia.
This grove of sequoias was right by the road, so we jumped out of the van to get photos with Finn. Look how tiny he is!
Yes, that's snow on the ground in May.
Due to the time of year that we were in Sequoia (middle of May) we were able to drive on Crescent Meadow Road, which is closed most of the year. Crescent Meadow Road is 3 miles long and includes Tunnel Log, which you can drive through.
I can't remember the name of this tree, but I loved the detail of the roots.
We left Finn in the car while we talked to see General Sherman tree. :(
On our way out of the park, we saw a bear!
