We bought a house!

Monday, February 2, 2015

In my last post, I mentioned that we found a house that we both loved. A week ago we made an offer, and the seller accepted without even countering! We were pretty shocked about that! The home inspection is happening right now, and I'm anxious to hear how it goes (Sam is at the inspection).

Even though we haven't even closed on the house, I have designed everything in my head. The house was built in 1988 and hasn't seen any updates since, so obviously it's pretty dated and we'll be doing a lot of renovations.

As soon as we close on the house in March, we plan to scrap the popcorn ceilings on the 1st floor, pull up the carpet, paint the trim and doors white, and get hardwood floors. We're hoping to move in sometime in April after we get the 1st floor ready. We're just going to live with an ugly upstairs since we can't afford to do everything at once.

The trim is currently a lovely shade of dirty tan. We're going to get a paint sprayer to make the trim and door painting go faster. We plan to use this same method from Young House Love (spraying the baseboard after the carpet is pulled up).

I can't wait to share more of the details!

  5. Congratulations! I can't wait to see the updates! I helped my aunt redo her house that was built around the same time and is a really similar style. Removing the popcorn ceilings made the biggest difference!
