Weekend Recap

Monday, September 15, 2014

This weekend we were able to cross off two items on my Fall Activities list. I also decorated for Fall, which I will post about on Friday.

On Friday, we went to the Concerts on the Dock at Lowe Mill. Their Fall season concerts just started back last week.

Sam got home from work early and cooked some pork salad that we packed as a picnic to eat at the Concert. The weather was perfect and Finn was on his best behavior!

Clearly, Finn appreciates listening to good music.

On Saturday, we went to the Scarecrow Trail at the Botanical Gardens.
I brought my camera to the Gardens, but as I tried to take a photo I realized that I didn't have an SD card in my camera. So, I ended up taking all these photos with my cell phone.

This year's theme was Once Upon a Time, and a lot of the scarecrows were characters from Disney movies.

We relaxed for a few minutes in the Hammock Garden (I actually have no idea what it's really called), and then headed home.

Sam made cheese fondue for dinner. In the evening, we laid on the floor and listened to records while  discussing how cute Finn is.

On Sunday I did all my weekly cores (dusting, laundry, meal planning, and grocery shopping). I read about a million articles about spending less on your grocery bill, budgeting, and photography workflow.

I've started incorporating pumpkin (my favorite ingredient) into our meal plan. On Saturday I made Pumpkin Waffles. Yesterday I made Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies. On Wednesday, I'm making Pumpkin Chili (I made this a lot last year) and on Friday I'm making Pumpkin Black Bean Quesadillas.

  1. Looks like a great weekend! Love that record player! I have a Crosley player, too, in teal. I can't believe it's already pumpkin season. I'm visiting from the Life of Meg link up! Hope you're having a great day:)

  2. Pumpkin quesadillas? That sounds quite interesting. I'm not a huge pumpkin fan but if its incorporated into something like that, I may just have to try it.

Stopping by from the mingle :)

  4. Oh, wow. That dog is possibly the cutest one I've ever seen! I too have been reading up on how to cut that dang grocery bill! Find any good tips?

  5. Ugh! Shannon, unfortunately I didn't! All the tips I read were things we already do: shop with a list, meal plan, don't shop when you're hungry, shop the perimeter of the store, and don't buy snacks. What I've determined is that we just eat fancy meals with lots of ingredients, but I don't want to change my eating habits to save money!

  6. Pumpkin waffles are SO GOOD! Do you have a blog? I didn't see one listed in your profile?

  7. I tried pumpkin quesadillas last year from a Rachael Ray recipe and they were quite good! Even my husband loved them and he's not big on the meatless meals.

  9. I love the record player, but my husband wants to get a new fancy (expensive) one. Unfortunately, the one he wants doesn't come in fun colors like the Crosley one, so I don't want him to buy a new one!
