Wedding Wednesday: First Looks

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

I did two first looks - one with my dad and one with Sam. I got dressed in The Bridal Room at 1818 Farms and did the reveal with dad there.

Father Daughter First Look:
Stephanie opened up the door and my dad cried when he saw me (spoiler alert: Sam didn't cry when he saw me).

These are my favorite photos with my dad, so I'm really glad we did the First Look!

Bride and Groom First Look:
Most of the bride and groom first look photos that I've seen have the bride tapping the groom on the shoulder. I wanted to do the opposite of that because I wanted to arrive at the church first to see the decorations and soak it all in. We had a decorator, so I was really excited to see what she did to the church.

When Sam touched my shoulder, I got so excited! I had butterflies in my stomach and I just wanted to whirl around and throw myself into his arms. The photographer and videographer had me wait a few minutes before turning around, so they could get shots from every angle. It felt like an eternity that I had to wait, but I'm sure it was only 2-3 minutes.

Finally! I could turn around!

After we kissed, Sam told me that I looked beautiful. I can't remember if we said anything else to each other. I think we just stared at each other with googly eyes.

I really wanted us to write our own vows, but Sam was against the idea because he thought he would be too emotional. I was able to convince Sam to exchange heartfelt letters, which we did during our first look.

Come back in a few hours and I'll have a bonus wedding Wednesday post - our highlight video!

  1. I love first look photos!! I won't be doing one with my fiancee, but we will definitely be getting some photos with my dad and bridesmaids :)

  2. Absolutely love when brides do a first look with their dads! I'm planning to do this as well and I have a feeling I'll be in the same boat as you - dad cries, husband doesn't. Ha.

    Beautiful pictures!

  6. Thank you Samantha! The father/bride first look photos that I've seen on Pinterest and blogs always seem much more emotional to me than the bride/groom first looks.

  7. Great first look photos! I did one with my Dad, too, and I'm so happy I did! I think it's so cool that yours is a little different since Sam tapped your shoulder. I can't imagine how hard it would have been to wait!
