My first apartment

Tuesday, August 19, 2014

I moved into my first apartment in 2012 and I had such a fun time decorating!
The living room right after I moved in. I upholstered the orange chair myself, you can see the before and after in yesterday's post. The red lamp was bought at a thrift store for $10. It was gold and I spray painted it. I purchased the green sofa from a woman at work for $50. The county prisoners reupholstered it. Most people are really shocked when they find this out, but they did a really great job and it was SUPER cheap!

After a few months I made curtains for the living and adjoining sunroom. I used this tutorial to make the curtains. I bought the fabric for the curtains from fabrics.com. I can always manage to find a coupon for them, so that's why it's about the only online store that I buy fabric from. I bought the coffee table and end table at Crate and Barrel outlet.

All of the artwork above the sofa was purchased from Etsy.

I put ancestry photos above the TV. I bought the TV stand and a dresser and nightstand off Craigslist for $100 (for all three). The beige chair is from Lay-Z-Boy and is about the only home purchase I regret purchasing. I just think it was too expensive and the sales lady was very pushy.

Sunroom/library. I bought the chairs at TJ Maxx for $150 each

My green kitchen

I made all the artwork on the wall. The chairs and china cabinet were all used. The table is from a family friend.

My bedroom, I made the curtains and upholstered and painted the bench

My bathroom

I used the second bedroom as my craft room. I painted the desk and reupholstered the chair. The grey cabinet is my craft cabinet from the Martha Stewart line. I later bought the top portion of the craft cabinet and it's in our current craft room. The grey color was discontinued by the time I could afford the top cabinet, so I ended up buying it in white. I've been thinking about repainting the whole thing green.

I took new photos of our current apartment last weekend, and you can see them here.

  1. Your apartment looks beautiful! I'm always so curious to see how people choose to decorate their space and I really like how you've decorated yours. I like the green touches all throughout!
