Thinking about // I really want to redecorate!!! So, so, SO bad! I have really gotten the decorating itch. Unfortunately, Sam says we need to wait until we buy a house (in a year) before I buy any new furniture or a new rug. I can only tolerate about a year of sameness before I need a decorating change. We just don't have the money for a new rug or getting the sofa reupholstered, so I redecorated my coffee table using things I already own.

Reading // I just ordered three books that I'm really excited about:

In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces- to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make. Heartwrenchingly beautiful, this will change the way you look at life, love, and family. Now a major motion picture starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia's story will stay with you for a long, long time.

From the highly acclaimed, multiple award-winning Anthony Doerr, the beautiful, stunningly ambitious instant New York Times bestseller about a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of World War II.

Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.

Kidd’s sweeping novel is set in motion on Sarah’s eleventh birthday, when she is given ownership of ten year old Handful, who is to be her handmaid. We follow their remarkable journeys over the next thirty five years, as both strive for a life of their own, dramatically shaping each other’s destinies and forming a complex relationship marked by guilt, defiance, estrangement and the uneasy ways of love.

As the stories build to a riveting climax, Handful will endure loss and sorrow, finding courage and a sense of self in the process. Sarah will experience crushed hopes, betrayal, unrequited love, and ostracism before leaving Charleston to find her place alongside her fearless younger sister, Angelina, as one of the early pioneers in the abolition and women’s rights movements.

Eating // Lots of fruit! Every Friday at work, one of the designers brings in breakfast for the whole group. This past Friday was my turn (we do a rotation), and I ended up with a lot of fruit leftover from my breakfast: cantaloupe, peaches, pineapple, and blueberries (which I don't even like so I need to give them to my mom).

Sam and I have decided we need to make some healthier dinners, so here are some of my recent pins and meal ideas for this week:

  6. I'm going through the same thing right now - so excited to redecorate, but we're going to start house hunting soon so I'm in a terrible limbo where I can't buy anything new! The best way to fight this is definitely with rearranging furniture!!
