Chicago

Friday, July 2, 2010

I had a great opportunity to go to Chicago on Memorial Weekend, and it was so amazing! I crammed as much sight seeing into one weekend as possible!

I spent a lot of time wandering around Millenium Park:

Then I went to the Art Institute:

The Art Institute was not my favorite art museum. I thought the Boston museum was much better. It was so hard to get around the Art Institute, very maze-like. Sometimes I know I'm overly critical of buildings/finishes/space planning since I'm a designer, but I overheard other people talking about how poorly the museum was laid out, so it wasn't just me. I stumbled upon the furniture exhibit by accident. I was trying to find the Photography exhibit, and ended up here instead:

The furniture exhibit almost made me cry. It was so amazing to see these modern classics!

Garden behind the Art Institute:

I wandered around the city for a while trying to find this, Buckingham Fountain:

I spent nearly the entire day at the Field Museum:

I wanted to go to the aquarium, which was right next door, but the line was out the door and down the stairs. So I walked along the river instead.

View from the John Hancock Observatory:

Navy Pier. Not my favorite place, way too touristy for me.

The last thing I did in Chicago was go on an architecture river cruise. Here are some pictures I took:
