This and that

Friday, April 10, 2009

After four weeks in the hospital, Megan finally left today and went to rehab. Unfortunately, we're having problems with the insurance paying for rehab. At first, they denied her going to rehab, saying that she was "too mobile." WTH??!! She only has one leg!! The surgeon intervened and she has now been approved to stay at rehab until Monday. Then the process starts all over again with the insurance company. Megan is still susceptible to infection (she already had one really bad infection, which required a lot of attention from the surgeon) and needs to stay in rehab for at least ten days.

When Megan got her leg amputated, I went home and was able to spent time with my family. My grandfather and aunt from Rochester, NY drove down to Alabama to see Megan. I was glad to be able to see them, although I wish it had been under different circumstances. My other sister, Stephanie, had her senior prom the weekend I was home, and she looked so beautiful!
A few days after Megan's accident, Stephanie got a new tattoo of a gray heart with the names, "Rebecca, Megan, Stephanie" around the heart.

On Monday my roommate, who is studying to be an opera singer, had her senior recital. She sang great and looked amazing in her sparkly dress!

Interior Design majors have to have internships in order to graduate. In this economy it is extremely difficult to find internships. Architecture firms that normally take four interns, aren't taking any this summer. I was the first person in my class to even get an interview. I had two interviews over Spring Break. One of the places I'm definitely not interested in after having my interview, and the other place I really, really, really want to work at. The place I'm interested in (I'll give you a hint: most of your husbands work for this group) didn't have approval for a summer hire at the time of my interview, but they have enough work for ten interns. I just got a call today that they've been given the approval and that I now need to drop off another resume. Cross your fingers that I get this internship!! I can't graduate without one. Unfortunately there's a lot of red tape to get through in order to work for this group. And I don't have months and months to wait around to get approved.

Aww and tell Stephanie her dress was beautiful!! I love it!! Plus I love when tattoos have special meanings. I personally don't have any, but my sister has one for the three of us (me, my mom and her).

  10. Hi, I'm new to your blog as I found you off of Army Alaska Life...My heart really goes out to you and your fmaily over your younger sister. I too have a younger sister who was in a terrible accident over a year ago. We still don't know what happened as her memory of the incident is wiped and she cannot remember it. Maybe a good thing...She drove off the road and into a field of cows, through a fence and struck a huge boulder that flipped her car five times then flew out the back window of the vehicle...They had to life flight her to Nashville, about thirty minutes from where we lived as she was having seizures...That was such a sobering moment when we recieved the news and the most scariest hours of my life... I never want to relive it with any of my other siblings or family members...So I do understand what your going through...It took her a year to recover as she had brian damage but with the grace of God, is (mostly) back to the sister I remember...I believe in God and I believe he can do anything so I will certinally be praying for your sister...To keep her strong and positive...I love your page BTW:) Feel free to stop by, anytime, and say hello! I love making new friends:) Happy Easter!
