Two posts in one day!

Friday, August 8, 2008

Actually I don't think this technically counts as two posts in one day since I'm writing this second one after midnight.

I don't usually have a lot to post. In fact, I've been thinking lately how there's a lot I'd like to post, but I don't usually write anything personal.

I started this blog thinking that I could blog about things going on at school that were frustrating me. But then I became afraid about who would read my blog. I go to a small school, and there could be some bad consequences if I wrote negative things about any of the students or the school in partical, especially since I have two jobs (organizing for the Interior Design department and recruiting for admissions) at school (my employer does occasional look at our Facebook pages to make sure we are representing the school in a good light). Not that I think anyone at school reads this...but you never know.

I'll try not to say negative things about my school, but I want to write about things a little more personal than what I do at work. I'll start with things going on in my head today:

I really hate being in a long distance relationship. I miss the days when Shawn and I went to the same school and saw each other everyday. We've been in a long distance relationship for the past year, since he joined the Navy. It really hasn't been that bad. We've been able to talk on the phone almost everyday and email and write lots of letters. But now he's doing some training in a nuclear power plant and he has such crazy hours! His schedule changes every week: he'll work one week from 12am-12pm and the next week he'll work 7pm-7am or something else crazy. It's difficult to talk to each other. I don't care what time it is when he calls (even if he does wake me up at 6am) but for the past few weeks, we've had such bad timing! I end up calling him right when he's about to go to bed or he calls me at work when I can't talk on the phone.

I shouldn't complain. It's not like he's overseas somewhere. And we've been able to see each other three times this summer! It's just hard to go from living on the same campus to now living over 1,000 miles away from each other. In the past year, I've seen him 5 times. At least I know where he is, as opposed to being out in the ocean somewhere. Sorry to complain, but I just needed to get this out.

  1. I understand crazy hours! I want to have lunch with you once you get settled into school!
